Paramount is sweeping right through the fall season as they continue their streak of topping the box office every weekend. This weekend was no different as the brand new thriller Crazy on You served up a huge $61.7 million at the opening box office. Shemar Moore led this flick with a fresh young cast led by Vanessa Marano and Yasmine Green.
Paramount has been cruising with their horror this fall as Sweet Innocence finally dropped out of first place but still cleared $44.1 million this weekend and is on its way to grossing over $300 million. Jenny Sniper and Broadway People did very well in holdovers.
In other new releases, Buena Vista released a couple of flicks and they saw success with the crime comedy For the Money coming in third place grossing $33.3 million for the opening weekend. Summer Glau was the huge draw in this picture. The other BV flick opening this weekend was Party Hard which fell flat out of the gate and flopped hard on them.
Sony had good holdover news for Annie Hall as well as the film has now grossed $76.9 million in its first two weeks.
Next weekend is an Allison Shields and Tracy Kimmell weekend as the box office movie of the year Addison Trails releases its highly anticipated sequel Addison Children.
