It was a full day of action in daytime as we had a 5-network race with RTN starting coverage in NITRO for the first time.
Even without the soaps ICE showed why they're still NITRO's Most Watched Network as they still got some huge numbers as it interesting to see Amber Montana's Afternoon Showcase out rate Arielle Kebbel's Noon Show. This could be something that ICE looks further into down the line. Despite the absence of the Love in the Afternoon brand of soaps they still got some huge numbers out of their movies since they were airing the big draws like Allison Shields' popular horror feature Twin Sisters and the world broadcast premiere of Sweet Innocence.
The story of the day obviously belonged to Sweet Innocence's record performance getting 35 million viewers which is the best ever for a movie in daytime history. Sweet Innocence was big enough to premiere in primetime but ICE premiered it during the day due to scheduling space and will re-air the movie tonight on PDN for their network premiere. ICE obviously knew what they were doing with this Scary ICE Halloween event, the other networks probably wouldn't be able to pull off a move like putting their soaps on hiatus and popping a rating like this.
Tomorrow should be interesting because tomorrow is when we expect ICE to go further down in the ratings and open up things in daytime, ICE has always programmed Mondays pretty competitively.
ROD was second best as their soap block was way up and Carrie Underwood popped in 23 million viewers beating The Noon Show. They also continued to get some really good play out of the Paramount theatricals as Nice Girls did well for a repeat outing in the morning and Heather 2 did better than their regular lineup there from 4-6pm. Obviously this deal that ROD made with ICE a few years ago paid off for them. Look for ROD to give ICE a lot of money when their new line of theatricals go on sale. The problem for ROD was that Sunset Beach dropped to 14.60 million viewers which was way down obviously going against Sweet Innocence so we'll see if it can rebound tomorrow with a much weak lead-in.
SBC finally got a glimpse at success with their soaps as Drama's Place drew in over 10 million viewers at 9am so it looks like Jennifer Aniston made the right decision there moving the show from primetime to daytime. Now SBC just needs to produce some soaps around it that people are actually going to watch as Dallas Fire and Dallas Police both look prettty dead and SBC might want to move The House That Love Built earlier in the morning and away from The Noon Show and The Midday Show at 12pm. SBC should not waste anytime this week as this is their only chance to take advantage of the ICE soaps being off this week until Friday. SBC's Melissa Peterman made a brilliant move here placing the soap block in the mornings where the competition is much more stiffer in the afternoon.
Speaking of soaps how about RTN? What a debut for RTN on Monday to have their two new soaps Marion Street and Youth Detention Centre both garner around 10 million viewers on their very first day doing something that TEN had never done in daytime thus far and RTN does it on their first day. Neve Campbell definitely not only should be nervous but better step her game up. TEN did beat RTN overall for fourth place but it wasn't a convincing victory as RTN was right behind them. Once RTN gets more originals in daytime they can definitely compete with SBC for third place. TEN did get good news though earlier in the morning as their new animated series Teenage Dreams got almost 8 million viewers easily making it their highest rated program in daytime so far and Big Brother did decently behind it but did bleed. Anna Kendrick really needs some better support there as her show is still suffering a bit and now that RTN may have some powerful soaps here TEN will need to find some of their own and replace these low-rated news hours.

Eddie: TEN beat us which is no surprise on our first day. We are very impressed with our two Soaps debuting at nearly 10 million people. They is a great start for us. Our day schedule will not be like that for long as we will have another soap enter our schedule very soon. We will also be moving out a couple of our repeat programs very soon for Original Programming.
Lisa McCune: Be prepared for some schedule changes to our morning slots coming very soon.

That's a true show of power right there from ICE to still beat everybody without their soaps as that was an insane rating from Sweet Innocence
Nice start for RTN also with their soaps but Youth Detention Centre will need to move once Youthful Daydreamers comes back on Friday
Drama's Place did well but they need to cancel the two Dallas shows, I think Drama's Place should be on at 10am it could get a bigger number there since ROD and ICE are in repeats

Sweet Innocence is a beast and Drama's Place & RTN soaps did better than I thought they would.

Considering the weaker lead in programs on Monday, I am surprised as well that it got to 10 million so early. I just hope it can stay around the 10 million mark and not drop off to bad.

My guess is some of the viewers wanted to watch soaps since ICE didn't have there's on and channel jumped to your network if they weren't interested in ROD's soaps.

Rebecca Herbst (Daytime President): We are very proud of Sweet Innocence's performance and we are giving every network 2 full days to take advantage of us taking those days off.
