Sunday wrapped up a 5-year era of the NFL on ICE and the beginning of a new one that starts next Sunday afternoon when the Women's Football League clashes with the National Football League. The NFL loses ICE as a television partner which could have a huge impact on their ratings but they will usher in two new ones to compete against ROD in TEN and RTN who will air games inside of the Federal Division. This means that three networks will be airing afternoon games instead of just two of them which could split the ratings three ways. This will open up an opportunity for viewers looking for an alternative as they can watch the NFL on ICE. It's possible that within the next couple of weeks after pilot season gets underway that ICE can complete a deal with SBC to help air WFL games to improve their Sunday lineup.
In the ratings viewers seem to be transitioning as ICE had their lowest NFL ratings of the season but did have a huge overrun featuring that Cowboys-Lions game in Detroit that came down to the wire but ROD was more solid overall.
A huge accomplishment was made for Neve Campbell's struggling TEN network as they finally captured third place against SBC who also struggled on Sunday and is looking forward to airing WFL games as soon as possible. Due to the struggles against the NFL for non-football programming all five networks will be airing some kind of football action by the middle of November.
