An empty podium surrounded by microphones from the various networks. There are whispers from the various reporters as to what this press conference may hold. There are a few rumours that the head of programming will be announced. There are also rumours of another sports deal in the works for RTN. Some people wondering though whether that is true or not. RTN is only a new network.
The curtains peel back and a male in a traditional suit and tie appears.
Man: My name is Eddie McGuire. I am proud to announce that I am the NEW head of programming for RTN.
A hush tone goes around the room with many hands shooting into the air.
Eddie: I will answer some questions soon. I do have some more announcements to make regarding our future schedule.
The hands go down for the moment. Eddie knows they will be up again very shortly.
Eddie: I am proud to announce that we here at RTN have just secured a major deal. Starting Halloween day and going through the rest of the season We have just secured the rights to the NBA for the rest of the season.
A loud gasp goes through the room. Many are probably shocked how RTN could get the NBA.
Eddie: As per our contract...... We will air 1 live NBA game a day from Halloween. We can air more if we would like and have the rights to air games that same day but on delay. This contract lasts to the end of the current season. We will be Pre-Empt our schedule to fit the games in. The NBA will fit nicely along side our remaining Formula 1 races, our remaining Nascar races and our WWE.
Eddie stops for a moment as whispers begin.
Eddie: We will announce ahead which games we will air live and which games, if any, we will air on delay. As long as there is one game that day, we will air it.
Eddie stops again for the news to sink in.
Eddie: We are also proud to announce that we have secured the last race of the Moto GP season from Valencia, Spain to be aired in November. All three classes will be aired on a short delay. This is only the beginning. We also have original programming that will keep rolling out over the months ahead. My motto is you have to spend money to make money.
Eddie stops for a moment and looks around.
Eddie: I will now take questions.
