One of NITRO's biggest sought after free agents ever Hayden Panettiere finally made her huge debut on TEN in their new horror drama series Vampire Life on Saturday. (Warner Bros. Television) This is the 45th night of the 2013-14 Television season on Saturday October 19, 2013.National Division - Major league broadcasting networks that are capable of currently reaching 73% of the world with working television sets. That percentage is expected to grow throughout the season as NITRO gets established in 20 more countries. These networks were apart of the original 8 networks back in the summer of 2009. These networks include ICE, SBC, and ROD. Federal Division - Netlet or minor league broadcasting networks that are only capable of currently reaching 51% of the world with working television sets. This division is home to most of the new networks and second networks of the National Division studios such as Pink (ICE) and TSN (SBC) and these networks are in their first year NITRO in the 2013-14 television season. These networks include PINK, TSN, and Uniworks. TEN might end up in this division but I have to realign the divisions by Monday and we'll know for sure by then. Hayden Panettiere (Teen Entertainment Network New York), Vampire Life (Warner Bros. Television)FIRST PLACE FINISHES 2013-14 SEASON1. ICE (5) 2. ROD (1) 3. PDN (0) (5 in Federal) 4. TEN (0) (1 in Federal) 5. SBC (0) 6. TSN (0) 7. UNI (0) ICE was back on top on Saturday as they've won their seventh straight Saturday night and ICE has dominated this night going back to the 2012 reboot season making it a destination to keep their young female viewers at home watching television. LIVE PROGRAMMING PROVES TO BOOST RATINGSICE ran into a problem though this week as for the first time this season they took their programming overseas and with them being in a timezone that had around a 16 hour difference from the homeland they had to tape their programming earlier in the day on Saturday instead of taping it live to simulcast it for viewers in the home country. This gave ICE the problem that the other NITRO networks have with some of their programming ever since they moved full-time into the live format for their comedies and variety programs back in 2010 and that problem is the spoiler factor, some viewers were able to read online or know from social what was going to happen on these shows so some of their casual viewers skipped it this week. ICE always had an advantage with the live format to draw in more viewers and on Saturday they were down in the ratings a little bit but still well healthy but they obviously would've been higher had the programming been live. CEO Jessica Lowndes was asked about taping their programming live on Sunday afternoon in Sydney and she stated that there is an advantage to keeping the tapings on Saturday nights because she said her live tapings for The Carpenters Hour on Sundays would have to tape on Mondays and this keeps ICE from worrying about selling out arenas with people having to go to work and school on Mondays. Keeping the tapings on the weekends guarantees sellouts which ICE was able to do when they hit Sydney. The Phederation wanted to get overseas before sweeps started because they expect ratings to go down when they are that far east on that part of the hemisphere, ICE will be in Australia again along with China and Japan during late December for Athletic Games time trials. ICE will stay in Australia and travel north to Brisbane on Monday for tapings so they expect ratings to be down a bit on Monday as well but Jessica stated that since London's time difference on Thursday isn't as bad that the programming will be live as people in London will be in the O2 Arena in the middle of the night and early morning hours on Thursday. Next Saturday's ratings should be back up when they're in Boston and the schedule changes with New Girls in Town Pageant being 2 hours. For the rest of the ratings in the National Division is was a very light quiet night for ROD and SBC as both networks struggled to reach an average of 40 million viewers for the night but it was a very close race between the two networks for second place but ROD was able to edge SBC since they had The Carpenters Hour Juniors to help them out which had 43.53 million viewers. SBC's night was much more fluid with their three dramas staying within reach of each other and growing in each timeslot. SBC has gone with the right idea here to go with counter-programming with the dramas against ICE's comedies. ROD has not made any serious changes here since the season started so that clearly means that Ashley Greene is going to worry about Saturdays later in the season. HAYDEN'S BIG TEN DEBUTOver in the Federal Division, we had some huge action as one of the biggest free agents of all-time Hayden Panettiere finally made her studio and network debut on TEN's sixth night of action in NITRO Television with the series premiere of the new horror program "Vampire Life" which also stars Tom Cruise and Emma Watson who making their debuts as well. Vampire Life succeeded easily becoming the network's highest rated program so far scoring 36 million viewers and almost beating Tough Chick on SBC for third place overall in that 8pm timeslot but it came in fourth. Hayden proved be more than just hype as she still has some of her drawing power leftover from ICE but she has lost a huge amount of her fanbase which was full of ICE fans this past week but we won't know if she stays in the top 25 or not until the first top 100 actor's list is released at Night of Champions on November 11th. This was TEN's first program to feature a top 25 star so now TEN and Neve Campbell knows what they need to do get more competitive in the ratings for the rest of the week in the future. Vampire Life can be a major player here in NITRO as it's already among the highest rated programs of the week in the Federal Division. Unfortunately for TEN, Survival Island still can't find an audience as it bled more than half of Vampire Life's audience. The movies actually held up better than Survival Island did. Even though TEN had a great start to their evening they came in 2nd place in the division behind PDN and fifth place overall but did pickup its first point since Tuesday beating TSN. PDN continues to thrive behind WFL Football and TSN took the night off with low-rated college football action and Max & Shawn had a so and so start but not anywhere near good with that drop at 8:30pm. Nobody is watching Uniworks and NITRO has decided to pull its programming on Sunday since the network is unlikely to submit a schedule in-time for the week and is doing way too badly right now so the network race will go back to six networks for the time being. In late night the Diamond Girls were back and they still rule as they received 71 million viewers, next week they will be pre-empted again for a sex show but will return on November 2nd according to ICE sources. Earlier for ICE the standout was Youth of Life drawing 69 million viewers in a taped environment and Babs & Kya getting 65 million viewers in front of it at midnight. Vancouver Models got 46 million viewers on a special night to close out the night. ROD's new late night block was solid as Super Crews was able to keep its ratings from primetime airings with the duels as they are getting close to starting their live shows. Gillian & Joannie got up to 40 million viewers as Becky G. guest starred and made her ROD debut. SBC had a piss poor late night as they received the lowest ratings of the year in the National Division from the daytime poison that is Glen Oak. Their sex hour was put in a really bad position but still got up to 16 million viewers. Next week in the Federal Division PDN debuts New Girls in Town After Dark which should be interesting to see how it rates. Tomorrow we have Peyton Manning making his first visit to Indianapolis since signing with the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football over on SBC. The Hour continues their auditions in Sydney. ROD will have their drama lineup of Eight Is Enough, Australian Nights and will give exposure to Sunset Beach tomorrow which reached a series-high in daytime this week. TSN debuts Friends Forever at 8pm.
