Australia Swim Team, The Down Under Swimming Classic (ICE's Wide World of Sports)It's that time of year again as the Winter Athletic Games Time Trials are now only a month away as the new swimming season launched with the Down Under Classic between USA and Australia this afternoon and the new roller derby season launched late in the afternoon when Canada went against the home country Australia. Both of these exhibitions drew new Saturday daytime ratings records. Both Allison Shields and Yasmine Green were in sporting action which led to another big afternoon like we had this past Thursday in daytime. Sara Sampaio was also in action over on ROD as they got 21.33 million viewers from her public exhibition. The Down Under Classic reached 33 million viewers on Saturday at noon beating the hell out of its stiff competition which was The Midday Show and The Saturday Show and Anna Kendrick over on TEN. Yasmine Green was obviously the huge draw here as she set two new world records but USA overall lost to the home country Australia. Yasmine Green hopes that more of her Starlet sisters will join her when the Time Trials start in late November. Yasmine has two more swim meets before the trials according to ICE sources. Allison Shields and Team Canada had a good battle against their down under rivals and put on hell of a show as this event was the most watched event outside of the NFL on Sundays in daytime history drawing a massive 43 million viewers which would be around 70 million if it were to air in primetime. Unlike Yasmine Green, Ally's team won and they are in action again this time against England on Wednesday night. USA vs. New Zealand drew about 27 million viewers and that featured Ally's old rival and now Starlet sister Aisha Williams. In the rest of Saturday action ICE was the most impressive as the Saturday morning debut of My Sister Katie drew 17 million and G. Hannelius' talker debut held onto most the swimming lead-in so good start for the hosting change there for ICE. On ROD they had a below average morning but a very strong afternoon thanks to Kelly Clarkson's talker and Sara Sampaio. SBC thanks to baseball had a really strong afternoon more than usual as their diss shows did well. TEN was trying to hang in there against the enormous competition but right now it's too much for this network as Neve Campbell has suspended daytime operations temporarily until they get some stronger shows in there but the good news for them is that Anna Kendrick's variety show can be real strong for them but it really needs better support around it. TEN is definitely going to have to groom up their new draft picks and turn them into big stars like ICE and ROD has done in daytime to get their big numbers for those sporting specials. ICE will start accepting participants for the Athletic Games soon so TEN should definitely send their new draft picks in there so they can raise their profile which can help get the network bigger numbers in the future.

Neve Campbell: We definitely agree with the decision to send our drafts into athletic games and will begin with that very soon

i'm glad TEN is putting their actors into athletic games as i know SBC has put their people through in the past as this should be interesting to see the way everybody performs and new rivalries building up between the rookies
