The Midday Show with new host Carrie Underwood is proving that yesterday's premiere was not an anomaly as the talker remained over 20 million viewers.
On Friday, ICE was giving their new host Arielle Kebbel of The Noon Show a break giving the reigns back over to the original host of the series Jacqueline MacInnes Wood so we can't judge their battle with ROD until Monday. SBC will be bringing in Rosie O'Donnell late next week. The Midday Show also repeated well with 12 million viewers only dropping close to 4 million viewers behind Hunter & Kacey. Most repeats that are behind huge lead-in like that tend to lose at least 30-50% of their lead-in but that was not the case with Carrie Underwood's premiere episode as it maintained 76% of the audience which comes out to 24%.
Hunter & Kacey for the first time is over 15 million viewers while Sarah & Drew AM continues to grow against them in second place. It should be interesting to see how SBC's talkers fit into this battle next week.
The soap battle is real close between ROD and ICE with ICE's 3-hour body block being stronger as Youthful Daydreamers reached 20 million viewers for its cliffhanger Friday edition. ROD is finding major traction with Sunset Beach at 6pm getting almost 18 million viewers on Friday. ROD brings in new soap "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" from producer Carrie Underwood which stars Joannie Stevens and Alexandria Brower. It will be a soap that should connect with the country audiences watching The Midday Show but we'll see on Monday if it can compete against that first half-hour of The Noon Show.
