Picking up the pieces from Joss Whedon's Previous Series Firefly, the series premiere sees the Endeavor crew put together after a tense fight against the Alliance in Serenity Valley. Detective Chris Patterson (Josh Radnor) is on his first day of his new job in Portland when a phone call comes in from his new partner Detective Mark Stewart (Martin Freeman) to report to a murder near the forest. It is soon revealed that the murder had been performed by a deadly toxin that has rarely been used, with the exception of the brutal murders in Los Angeles 12 Years ago. Our tale begins in 1911, where John Marston (Nick Offerman), a former outlaw, is taken from his family by the Bureau of Investigation. They state Marston will be granted amnesty if he brings the remaining members of his old gang to justice. Marston agrees and sets off to track Bill Williamson (Guest Star Neil Flynn), who now runs his own gang. Marston confronts Williamson at his stronghold, Fort Mercer, only to be shot and left for dead. A local rancher, Bonnie MacFarlane (Jenna Fischer), finds him wounded and takes him to her ranch for recovery. During this time he works with a U.S. Marshal, Leigh Johnson (Guest Star Silas Weir Mitchell) and his deputies, the dim-witted Jonah (Micheal Cera) and sarcastic Eli (John Oliver). Will John be able to use this connection to an advantage to hunt down Williamson?
