6 different movies were released this Thanksgiving weekend and it was really crowded but leading the way was the phenomenon known as Sweet Innocence which is about to close this year's box office with a bang grossing almost $200 million in its first two weeks of release.
Of the new releases on top was the long awaited 1977 sequel to Woody Allen's classic Annie Hall which made $50 million for its opening becoming Sony's best opener of the fall so far and Sony ended the box office run of The Game of Prostitution which landed in the #3 spot in the Yearlys.
Paramount had another successful opening with Liza Minnelli's Broadway People which edged Warner Bros. release Studio 47. This was a weekend full of musical dramas and comedies as the new NITRO movie studio TCC Inc. known as TCC Bay Area in the television industry rolled out two releases but their successful one critically and at the box office was the emotional story Get Back Up which rolled in $22 million beating the November release of Jenny Sniper.
This was a weekend full of classic musicals and throwback romantic comedies which made it feel like the fall at the box office and the people came out in droves to support these movies as we had at least five movies making over $20 million during this 5-day weekend.
The last release was another one of Universal's failed attempts to bring a TV show to theaters which should not be happening for another five years at least. Universal needs to fire their whole box office staff as they have not got it done in the theaters and they need to go in a new direction starting in 2011.

Sweet Innocence is just kicking ass and taking names. Sweet Innocence might be the #1 movie for a minute.
I'm glad Broadway People did really well as I knew it wouldn't be a chart topper but would do well enough to gross over $100 million at the box office becoming a hit.
I really want Jenny Sniper to stay in the top 10 for another week or two so that it can clear over $250 million.
