The ICE Phederation
ICE makes a surprising move and cancels three of their dramas today in Drama's Place, The Heartland's Family, and Million Dolla Baby. All three have been pulled from the schedule effective immediately right now.
The reason for the cancellations was not due to ratings and was more due to the fact that ICE is going in a different direction with the format of their soap dramas and making room on the schedule for a few premieres over the next few weeks heading into March.
ICE is heading towards a direction where 60-70% of their programming will be aired in a live format instead of a tape delay format. Bradleys vs. Van Horns is the only soap not to be cancelled as there was no need for a change there. Phederation president Pat Devine revealed that ICE would still be filming most of its dramas in the traditional format film-look format on tape delay but they didn't want to film in that format anymore with their soap operas which are getting filmed in the telenovela style. ICE is hoping to get rid of the spoiler element for its viewers and bring in a more surprise approach similar to that of a sporting or award telecast.
ICE launched The Swimming Diaries last Monday and the design of the drama is a lot different from traditional dramas as it is taped live simultaneously.
Another soap that's set to replace the three is Vancouver Models which is a unique telenovela drama filmed live in Vancouver every week about a serial killer who is stalking models in the area and following the lives of the scared to death models who live their lives on the edge at all times.
ICE has also been picking up a number of young international supermodels to cast in these programs and get rid of some of the veteran dead weight they had from before from these casts. ICE is building their Phederation ship like a well-oiled young rebuilding machine that will become a dynasty in the later years.
ICE is looking to approach the television industry way more different than the other networks and using their overseas influences of the rising popularity of the telenovela format. Most critics feel that ICE is way ahead of the curb over the other American networks in the industry and that they have put themselves in a risky position but a position where the other networks will be catching up to them. ICE has already made a few moves to solidify their movement when they introduced the comedies in the 10pm hour, they also taped all of their comedies live simultaneously and took them on the road in different cities, and the introduction of The Swimming Diaries' new style drama format.
ICE will fill the timeslots with various programming until their new soap dramas are designed.
