Notes:
The three new releases did pretty well (ie. Oedipus Rex, Death Wish, and Addison Trails). Of these 3, expect Addison Trails to have the biggest legs and Death Wish to be the most frontloaded (fans of Cena and the original will head out first weekend, and action flicks don't last as long as others).
This will be the final weekend in theaters for Valentine's Day Sucks and Gym Heroes.
This was the biggest weekend in theaters for films, and that could be due in part to college spring break.

Great job again Spence amazing just amazing!
What a huge money making movie at the theaters for all movies. It looks like Spring Break and Oscar Weekend gave everybody a huge bump as some movies made more money than expected.
Let me start off with Oedipus Rex which had the biggest opening weekend so far here at the box office with an amazing $35 million and $30 million made on Friday and Saturday. That $76 million is a new record passing up Star Girl which I believe made around $65 million for its opening weekend a month ago. Oedipus Rex definitely looked like a hit from the very beginning.
Speaking of Star Girl what an amazing run this movie has had, it surprises me every week how much it makes and this weekend got a huge boost that looked like opening weekend numbers and actually surpassed its opening weekend numbers which is rarely done. It is now headed towards $300 million and I won't be surprised if by the end of its run it will make around $500 million. First female superhero movie to have this kind of success at the box office setting the tone for future movies in that genre for female leads.
Death Wish which I expected to be frontloaded b/c its the remake, Cena, Chuck Norris, and promoted very well. Like half of the remakes made they don't live up to the original and this one didn't. Death Wish is one of those core action films that are loved by the masses and those who like violent vigilante movies. If promote right it can make around what Runaway Train got which is turning into a huge surprise at the box office making close to $100 million.
The movie of the year Addison Trails and Oscar nominee for Best Picture is the type of movie that usually doesn't have to have power starts in order to be successful b/c movies like this have great word of mouth. I really do believe Addison Trails will surpass Star Girl at some point this year in overall gross b/c its a movie with very strong legs. Many predictors have it finishing between $500-700 million and ICE Starlets Allison Shields and Rebecca Moore of Star Girl will help it make a lot of money. Definitely keep an eye on Addison Trails as it might set the record for the number of weeks in the TOP 10.
There's a lot of movie candidates mainly coming from Uniworks, 21st Century ROD, and Paramount Pictures that will be TOP 10 grossers for 2010 and I can definitely see a lot of movies making over $400 million before this year is done b/c the end of the year and summer season is loaded with contenders. Every week in the summer has a movie that can make that much. Don't forget we've got the Jaws remake coming soon and BL told me early screeners say its living up to the original. Then Uniworks' Last Call looks like a huge money making movie.
Only When I Laugh just like Addison Trails is a huge legs movie as it improves its numbers every week and that Oscar attention and Jack Nicholson's name is going to continue to help it.
Once Upon a Mattress is a huge surprise so far as its an overall all-around movie domestically and critically. Now at $90 million proving it has huge legs.
The Ice Princess which is a huge threat to taking the Best Picture award away from Addison Trails at the Oscars is also holding its own. Its the only movie remaining from the first two weeks that is still hanging in the TOP 10 and still grossing.

We have some huge releases coming up in the next couple of weeks.
March 12: The Queen of Argos (ASTUR) Twin Sisters (WP, P/DW)
March 19: Derby Girl (LSP) Barney's Dead (ROD) Little Darlings (WP, PAR)
I can't wait to see the numbers for Barney's Dead which sounds funny and will be a huge fail with critics. Little Darlings should be interesting too another movie with legs.
I will have points up for this tomorrow!

I had a huge Saturday evening for Death Wish and I am very satisfied with those numbers. If I promote it a little more it can have legs towards the $70-100 million range since its a bigger movie than Runaway Train was but I I think Runaway Train was a huge surprise and was rated better critically than Death Wish was. John Cena and Chuck Norris' presence definitely made a huge difference in this film's success.
My expectations for movies like Death Wish is on the front-load side and make at least between $70-$100 million for action movies.
My next huge release will be Tough Competitors II in April. The Crush 2 will also be huge since its an anticipated sequel.
Barney's Dead will be interesting will it be You Idiot! or Fright's Game.
How about Fright's Game 2? What a run the Frankie doll had in this sequel succeeding my expectations and making $60 million, I'm really glad I picked this up from ICE Studios.

Its the only movie remaining from the first two weeks that is still hanging in the TOP 10 and still grossing. Oedipus Rex had a huge opening and you have to love it when a movie makes over $30 million for double days during the weekend. Everybody got a huge spike and Star Girl is a real threat I am definitely picking up network rights to it. Addison Trails will be a very scary movie as I've got a feeling this movie is going to make a load of money during the next 4-6 months like Proxio said. Only When I Laugh is another movie to watch out for as it keeps improving. The Ice Princess is still going strong. I'm seeing a remedy here that it is definitely a good idea to have critically acclaimed films. That's an area I've got to work on as I've just been worried about making instant money for my movies and that's been the wrong strategy.

Little Darlings should be interesting too another movie with legs. I will have points up for this tomorrow! The Queen of Argos sounds like a blockbuster movie but no one is going to see if it does not get promoted well. Twin Sisters should be interesting it has NITRO's two biggest draws in the real-life twin sisters of Terri and Allison Shields so let's see how this one turns out. Although Allison is a huge TV star she has two movies in Star Girl and Addison Trails that are growing but her box office presence is not there just yet. Derby Girl is my favorite movie in the bunch because I love roller derby especially females in roller derby if you get my riff. LOL! I can see this one having strong legs and have a great score critically. Barney's Dead is one of my films from my horror production company Sick Films. It stars Selena Gomez & Demi Lovato while they are two huge stars I'm not sure if a movie about killing dinosaur will do well legs wise but maybe front-loaded like You Idiot! or Fright's Game. Selena & Demi do very well with their TV show but they are not the draw that the Shields sisters are. Little Darlings is a remake of the 1980 classic but its all going to depend on how well its adapted which will determine its success. Out of the three films releasing that weekend it will make the most money but you never know.

You need to start promoting like me, BlueLick, and Spencer does so you can make that money, money, money yeah yeah!
